At Silver River Vineyards, winemaking begins in the vineyard. Our wines are crafted in small lots from mature estate vines, with a focus on quality, authenticity, restraint, and a clear expression of place.
We do not force our wines into a formula. Instead, we work with the controlled chaos of nature, allowing each vintage to reflect the season, the land, and the care behind it. Every year brings its own conditions, challenges, and beauty. Our job is to listen carefully and guide the wine without overwhelming it.

Our Winemaker
Nicole Flores represents a new generation of Paso Robles winemakers, bringing fresh energy, creativity, and a modern perspective to the evolving wine industry.
With a background in biotechnology, a master’s degree from Northwestern University, and hands on experience in vineyard, cellar, and daily winery operations, Nicole brings scientific precision together with a deep respect for craft. She is currently completing the Winemaking Certificate Program through UC Davis.
Nicole’s approach is thoughtful, curious, and grounded. She combines science, observation, and sensory awareness to make wines that are precise without feeling manufactured, expressive without being forced, and deeply connected to the vineyard.
The Universe in a Glass of Wine
Winemaking invites us to see wine not only as a beverage, but as a meeting place for soil, sunlight, chemistry, biology, memory, and imagination. Richard Feynman captured that sense of wonder beautifully.
Below is an excerpt from the lecture titled “The Relation of Physics to Other Sciences,” in which Richard Feynman highlights the connectedness of everything to everything else. Feynman’s lectures are collected in The Feynman Lectures on Physics.
A poet once said, “The whole universe is in a glass of wine.” We will probably never know in what sense he meant that, for poets do not write to be understood.
But it is true that if we look at a glass of wine closely enough we see the entire universe. There are the things of physics: the twisting liquid which evaporates depending on the wind and weather, the reflections in the glass, and our imagination adds the atoms.
The glass is a distillation of the earth’s rocks, and in its composition we see the secrets of the universe’s age, and the evolution of stars.
What strange array of chemicals are in the wine? How did they come to be?
There are the ferments, the enzymes, the substrates, and the products.
There in wine is found the great generalization: all life is fermentation.
Nobody can discover the chemistry of wine without discovering, as did Louis Pasteur, the cause of much disease.
How vivid is the claret, pressing its existence into the consciousness that watches it!
If our small minds, for some convenience, divide this glass of wine, this universe, into parts—physics, biology, geology, astronomy, psychology, and so on—remember that nature does not know it!
So let us put it all back together, not forgetting ultimately what it is for.
Let it give us one more final pleasure: drink it and forget it all!

From Vineyard to Bottle
Our estate wines are crafted from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grown here on the property from vines planted in 1990. From the 25 acres we farm, we select the vineyard sections that show the strongest balance, character, and promise each year.
At harvest, fruit is hand picked from selected rows, then evaluated again before entering the winemaking process. This careful selection allows us to keep production small and focused, making wines that feel honest, expressive, and connected to the land.
As a small production winery, our primary focus is quality and authenticity. We do not engineer our wines for awards or force them into predetermined profiles. We embrace the variation of each season and allow every vintage to capture a unique moment in time.

Silver River Vineyards is also home to Silent Service Wines, our parallel label honoring the men and women of the United States submarine force, those who serve beneath the sea, and the families whose quiet strength stands behind them.
Through Silent Service Wines, we are proud to support organizations such as the Dolphin Scholarship Foundation, which serves submarine families and the next generation they are raising.
